    This is a really cool report about using Africanized beehives as a fence to keep elephants out of your crops.  Even with their very tough skins, they can be stung around the eyes or up the trunk.  And they're smart enough to remember past stings and so avoid the fence even if there don't happen to be any bees in the box right then.
